Foreester Research forecasts Mexican Internet ad market to grow from 1999's $11 mil to $241 mil in 2003. eMarketer sees China's Web ad market increasing from $8 mil to $220 mil over the same period.

Vivendi is set to purchase U.S. Filter
Article Abstract:
Palm Beach, Calif.-based U.S. Filter Corp. is expected to be acquired by the French conglomerate, Vivendi SA. The announcement is not yet official and, consequently, no terms were divulged. If and when the merger happens, Vivendi will have a considerable presence in the U.S. which will give it a better competitive edge with its French rival, Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux SA. The deal could be for around $6 billion in cash.

Omnicom Group to measure how ads do

DDB Worldwide is setting up DDB Matrix to analyze the effectiveness of advertising. Some companies, such as Proctor and Gamble and Colgate Palmolive are linking what they pay an ad agency to the sales of the advertised brand. DDB Matrix says it has 20 contracts for its service, both from DDB and from outside clients.
