The supermarket industry of Australia is undergoing a major change as the giants are overhauling their supply chains and distribution and administration arrangements in a bid to cut costs. It is reported that the grocery retailer and wholesaler, Metcash Trading's, supply-chain reform has struck a glitch as Franklin's have cancelled the contract with them.

Spy squad hits the grocery aisles

Merchandisers have not kept pace with changes to shopping patterns in supermarkets which can lead to some branded goods being unavailable. Often manufacturers are unaware their goods have sold out in the shops as merchandisers spend around 40% their time travelling between locations.
