The Aeron chair, Herman Miller's most popular product, named one of the 'Designs of the Decade' for the 1990s, which was a must in Internet companies, with a profit of $2.2 billion, was in liquidation sales and had downsized the workforce and closed plants. During the period when business was down by 45 percent, Herman Miller decided to take a risk of investing in R&D, which bears the fruits of its decision, is introducing more products than at any time in its history.
