CompUSA: revising computer retailing
Article Abstract:
CompUSA changed computer retailing when it offered a 266 megahertz computer, priced at $98, for the first 10 people in line at its store in Addison, Texas on Jun 28, 1998. CompUSA also offered special bargains on modems, hard drives, and other products. This type of marketing is an attempt by the company to maintain the concept of the computer store while it diversifies into other operations. CompUSA has been faced with competition from smaller direct marketers and shops.
