Honesty is the best policy
Article Abstract:
It is imperative that employees see their benefits as the company's prerogative and not an obligation. In fact, the company is not indebted to its employees for any benefits. Several suggestions are presented to reinforce this viewpoint. Communication materials such as fliers, direct mails, regular newsletters and audio-visuals are able to put across ideas effectively. A feedback system permitting employees to take part in the planning process enhances their sense of control and belonging. The suggestion box is another way to engage employees in decision-making.

Workers for choice
Article Abstract:
One way for small businesses to reduce costs is by allowing employees to select their own benefits package. Employees would not mind having to pay more of their own medical insurance if they had more freedom in deciding the type of benefits they were to receive. A survey proves that almost 66% of employees affirm they would shoulder a greater share of the cost if they, in turn, had more influence in deciding what their benefits package would contain.
