Hosokawa unveils new stimulus plan

Japanese Premier Hosokawa introduced a $58-billion economic plan on Sep 16, 1993. The plan included funding for business incentives, public works and low-interest housing loans. The Nikkei stock average fell 2.1% after Hosokawa's announcement.

German central bank cuts its key interest rates
Article Abstract:
The Bundesbank lowered its Lombard rate to 9% and its discount rate to 8% on Feb 4, 1993. Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden responded by lowering their interest rates.
