Hostile reception for a miner with a history; Clifford Frame's association with Canada's worst mining disaster in 30 years is dogging his activities in Australia
Article Abstract:
Mineral Resources Corp. (Toronto, Canada) Chmn Clifford Frame came to Australia in order to influence shareholders in Greenfields Coal Co.'s to sack the firm's management. Frame was poorly treated by the shareholders due to his association with the explosion at Curragh Inc.'s Westray coal mine in Nova Scotia, which killed 26 people. The incident, Canada's worst mining disaster in 30 years, could have been prevented if Curragh, whose board of directors Frame chaired, had obeyed orders from government inspectors to reduce methane buildup.
