An NCR 9020 computer system has been installed at Gel Inc., Livonia, MI., in order to interface its manufacturing controls with the automated release accounting systems of Ford Motor Company and General Motors. This interface provides compatibility between the systems, increases reaction times and reduces customer inventories. The computer to computer communications provide for the storing of release information and printing it out as necessary. A user department is connected on- line to the computer through CRT terminals. The automation of systems has resulted in cost and time savings for the company.
