China's rapidly growing economy is luring investors from across the globe. Although its state-owned business are considered risky investments, property holdings are helping the government to acquire capital. Australian companies have not yet fare well in China due to differing management strategies.

Companies wanting a global presence need to enter China, but taking a simplistic market-share approach in that nation will ensure failure. Chinese investment strategies are presented for five Australian firms: BHP Steel, Foster's Group, Macquarie Property, Bovis Lend Lease, and ANZ Banking Group.
