This article examines the differences in the approach to information privacy exhibited by the US and Europe, from both a managerial and regulatory perspective. Topics addressed include how culture impacts the value placed on privacy rights, the privacy policies of Internet companies such as Amazon.com Inc., and the use of personal data for marketing purposes.
