Article Abstract:
U.S. businesses only u se a fraction of their available knowledge despite their established capabilities and the advantage of being home to the world's top research universities. The criticisms and concerns about management practices in U.S. firms that are critical to keeping the leadership status of the U.S in innovation-based economic competitiveness are investigated.

Misunderstanding the nature of company performance: the halo effect and other business delusions
Article Abstract:
There is a misplaced belief that companies should follow formulas to achieve better performance, but company performances are better understood as relative, not absolute. Companies should do more than follow formulas to improve performance and must differentiate themselves from rivals.
