Article Abstract:
An analysis of Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences and how this can be applied to uncover the variety of skills required to ensure success for both individuals and groups. Gardner argues that the ability to solve problems is down to the mobilisation of nine different intelligences, consisting of linguistic, mathematical-logical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, philosophical, kinaesthetic or motor, auditory or musical, naturalistic and visual.

When success leads to failure: the impact of culture and leadership on Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the supermarket industry is made drawing conclusions about the role of leadership and culture on organisational success through a comparison of the fortunes of Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury's. It is concluded that the difficulties that befell both companies are the result of a culture and set of values that had become too rigid, bureaucratic and hierarchical, stifling innovation and causing the companies to lose touch with their customers.
