Investment company (domestic) industry
Article Abstract:
Analysts remain divided about the future of the stock market, so at this time prudent investors will focus on value oriented closed-end mutual funds if considering the domestic investment arena. Some analysts think current high stock prices are overvalued and expect interest rates to rise soon. Other think the high valuation of US stocks is on target given current low interest rates and low inflation. The current market is contrasted to the stock market fluctuations of 1973 and 9174.

Article Abstract:
Large discounts have persisted for closed-end domestic equity mutual funds during the 1990s in spite of the good stock market performance during the decade. Many observers and fund managers believe that distributions and potential tax liabilities may be among reasons for this, although liquidity and low volatility are considered assets. However, closed-end US stock funds are not recommended for purchase unless the discount is wide.
