The investment company industry is not likely to be affected by the Asian financial crisis in 1998. Only 10% of U.S. exports are shipped to Asia and the Pacific Rim. Small-cap stocks are expected to improve due to better values, with diversification reducing the risk. Closed-end funds that are candidates for open ending can turn unprofitable.
