Article Abstract:
The introduction of Personal Communication Services wireless phones, the Internet, and deregulation at the federal level are creating fundamental changes in the telecommunications services industry. Cable companies do not yet have the marketing capacity or technology to be a major force in the industry in the 1990s, but some have potential. Several stocks among the long-distance providers and Baby Bells are good investments for 1996.

Article Abstract:
Telecommunications legislation is being rewritten by Congress and two bills eliminating restrictions are now in conference committee. Long-distance and other services may be provided by Baby Bells if their local markets are proven competitive. Cellular telephony is growing and wireless telephones may replace landline service. Telephone stocks have outperformed the market in 1995 and several are attractive investments for growth.
