Israel, PLO reach accord on West Bank, military pullout and expanded Palestinian self-rule

Israel and the PLO signed an accord in Washington DC on Sep 28, 1995, that specifies terms for the second stage of Palestinian autonomy in the West Bank. One of the major issues resolved by the pact was security for Israeli settlers in Hebron. Third-stage negotiations will begin in May 1996.

Palestinian suicide bombs kill 19 at Israeli army bus stop

The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the bombing near Nordiya, Israel, that killed 19 Israelis and wounded 65 on Jan 22, 1995. Palestine Liberation Army leader Yasir Arafat condemned the bombing, and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin said the peace talks would continue.
