Software for steering through that maze of funds
Article Abstract:
Morningstar's $45-$195 Ascent mutual fund investment software is a good tool for choosing potential mutual fund investments and is relatively easy to use. Investors select funds by inputting desired fund performance criteria and reading the information that augments each company listing. The Windows-based software will operate on a 386-based PC with 4MB of RAM but offers better performance on a 486 machine with 8MB of RAM. Users can search for individual funds or review fund listings that meet their investment requirements. The software also provides information about the investment market and will expand the user's understanding of mutual funds. The software operates on a point-and-click basis that promises trouble-free computing. Users should enhance Ascent's information with more investment data readily available in local libraries.
