Mattel is phasing out teething-toy additive
Article Abstract:
Starting with 1999 Mattel's teething toys will not have the additives that make vinyl soft and chewy in them; in fact, they may not even be made of vinyl at all. Phthalates are the chemicals that are added to vinyl and are in question in both the US and in Europe. Some European countries are expected to ban the chemicals by law. Rubbermaid is also going to stop using phthalates in toys for children under three years old.
