Marketers beware, consumer sentiment is turning nasty

The results of an annual survey of 5000 Australian consumers, carried out in February 2000, are summarized. Compared with 1999, consumers are more pessimistic about the economy, sceptical of advertising and concerned about the effects of new technology.

Big brother, big spender
Article Abstract:
An analysis of spending on advertising in Australia during 2000 is presented. The biggest outlay was by the Federal Government, which spent 145m Australian dollars on promoting tax reform and defence, closely followed by Telstra and Coles Myer.
