Empresas ICA SA is attempting to rebuild itself at a rapid pace. Empresas is the largest construction company in Mexico. The firm is seeking to expand into the rapidly growing export-manufacturing industry in Mexico. The company is hoping to use the industry as its main client base. Empresas is expecting to post $1.5 billion in sales for 1998. The company has also formed an alliance with Fluor Corp. in order to acquire the low-cost financing that it requires to compete against other major foreign bidders.

Metalclas of U.S. calls a halt to new investment in Mexico
Article Abstract:
Metalclad Corp. announced that it is suspending further investment in Mexico until foreign investor protection laws are enforced by officials. Metalclad is one of the largest toxic and hazardous handlers in the US. The company said that it was halting the building of a $10 million landfill operation in Aguascalientes state. Metalclad also said that it would suspend construction on three other pending projects in Mexico.
