Microsoft net climbed 28% for 4th period

Microsoft Corp. posted a 28% rise in its net income for the fourth-quarter of 1998. The net income figures were higher than what Wall Street analysts had expected. The figures also show the strength of Microsoft's basic product lines. The software giant posted $1.36 billion in net income, compared to $1.06 billion during the same period in 1997. Microsoft's revenues increased 26% to $4 billion for the quarter.
