Microsoft delays release of Windows NT revamp

Microsoft Corp. is postponing the shipment of a major overhauled version of its Windows NT operating system. The new application will be an important factor in determining how successful the company will be in assuming large corporate computing tasks. Microsoft announced that it would postpone the shipment of a second test version of Windows NT 5.0. The company did not announce a new date for the release of the final product.

Microsoft to release new test version of its Windows NT 5.0 System today

Microsoft Corp. plans to release a second beta version Windows NT 5.0, a server opertaing system for managing networks of PCs. The company stated that it would follow this release of Windows NT 5.0, which will go to about 100,000 users, by a third beta release. Although the company has not set a release date for the final version of the software, analysts believe that it will be issued by the end of summer, 1999.
