NAFTA effects and the level of development
Article Abstract:
A gravity model framework is used to estimate the impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) on the US trade and FDI relationships with both member and nonmember countries. The estimated impacts are refined to account for each country's level of development and the results show that most of the trade benefits have accrued to insiders and that the gains to outsiders are positively related to that country's level of development.
