New Money
Article Abstract:
There are many people around who think they have great ideas and, if only they had some capital, could have really great products. Yet when these people turn to the venture capitalists they discover that the venture capitalists want too big a piece of their company, or that the personalities do not mesh. But all is not lost for these entrepreneurs; there is a new source of funding and advice available for some start-up companies. Successful ex-entrepreneurs who have extra money are willing to invest both their time and their money in many types of non-traditional deals. These adventure capitalists can offer much to budding entrepreneurs, they have all been there themselves. These people have formed informal groups, which travel around searching for bright individuals who have good ideas but may have nothing else. Then comes the challenge and rewards for these adventure capitalists as they try to find the rough diamonds among the very unconventional rocks, and help mold them into sparkling, successful business gems.

Face to Face: Roescoe L. Egger
Article Abstract:
Roscoe L. Egger, though his name and face are not readily recognized, has since 1981 headed one of the most feared government agencies - the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Egger claims that neither he nor his agency are out to get anyone. Their function is to make sure that everybody pays his or her fair share of the tax burden. Egger is proud of the department's record since he has taken over the job citing the 'no change' rate, (the number of returns audited for which no changes are made), which has dropped, and the improved efficiency of the department. He is also interested in using the tax audit as a means of examining how well the system, with its many rules and regulations, works. Egger has very strong feelings about many issues - such as the flat tax rate, abusive tax shelters, and cash based accounting - which affected taxation. This strong minded individual believes his department can be an efficient way to uphold the law and provide for equitable taxation.

Sparring Partners
Article Abstract:
Partnerships are often compared to marriages. The breakup of a partnership in an established business always requires legal action of some sort. Feuding partnerships are so numerous a new service industry has evolved to referee these situations. One of the main reasons partnerships dissolve is money. Another major problem in partnerships is often simply that the partners are unable to resolve personality differences between each other. Counseling and business therapy can help partners resolve their differences or settle on a reasonable method to dissolve the partnership. A leadership problem can arise when partners are too alike. Death and divorce in partner's personal lives often split partnerships up.
