The recovery in oil and gas prices in 1999 has been good for the oil field services and equipment industry during the year with increased drilling and other services. The international markets for equipment and services providers is also improving in 1999, but consolidation among major oil producers will have an effect on the industry. Stock prices for these companies already reflect higher earnings and prices.
