Old rivals fight for new turf-biotech crops
Article Abstract:
Monsanto Co. and DuPont Co. are spending billions of dollars for talent, technology, and other biotech-related assets as they compete to rewire the US' corn, soybean, and other mainstay, crops for a wide range of applications. Both companies have battled over the prices of genetically-engineered seed that is sold to farmers. Monsanto's and DuPont's bidding wars have forced prices to skyrocket. Both firms are attempting to develop "dirt-to-dirt" biotechnology channels. These pipelines will have a major impact on the food supply in the US.
