Peter Cosgrove: defence force
Article Abstract:
Events from the year 2001 to 2003 prompted the Australian defence force (ADF) to closely consider the future, the ways and means to keep the country secure. The most important issue facing the ADF in 2004 is the fight against terrorism, which confronts the entire international community. The fight is a long term one and requires the government to use all the levers of national power and international cooperation that is diplomatic, legal, economic, humanitarian aid or military.
