Photocopiers: Yet More Features to Come
Article Abstract:
Users and buyers need to understand the rapidly developing features of photocopiers. 'Duplexing' is copying on both sides of the paper. 'Stack feed' and 'stream' feed are automation options. Volume refers to the number of copies per minute. The Computer Forms Feeder on the Oce 1900 DF-CFF allows push-button quantity output and individual page selection. The NP-Color copier from Canon, with automatic color balancing, is the fastest color copier on the market. Fordigraph offers a range of lower priced models including the Model A 3161 with 'pause' key. The Toshiba BD 7812, with automatic feeder, has a ten or twenty Bin Sort Option. Six reduction and two enlargement ratio selections come with the Ricoh FT 3050 from Remington. The Mita Vox by Mita Industrial Co. Ltd is the first to incorporate voice recognition and response. Charts comparing the features of copier models are presented.

Article Abstract:
The photocopying industry has grown so rapidly that many designs have developed as a series of add-ons with little thought to user convenience. Oce-Reprographics offers the Oce 1900 as a photocopier with a number of facilities, but simple operations. Japanese manufacturers approach the problem of paper jams by making the feed shorter.
