Planning Strategies for the Coming Prosperity
Article Abstract:
The author briefly reviews the economic development of the United States after World War II. He sees the growing prosperity of the United States society as costing nationally in terms of social ills. America has consistently gone through periods of prosperity. While he believes the same thing will occur as we emerge from the 1980-1982 recession he believes that the new technologies will lead us out. The major problem America will still be faced with is chronic unemployment. Some intervention by government may be necessary because of the general values of the society. If possible a kind of strategic planning for the economy may be possible if it can incorporate and enhance the values of American society.
