Poised for Takeoff
Article Abstract:
Despite record sales and profits, Grumman Corporation's stock price has fallen near a yearly low. The reason for this drop seems due to a decision by the company to increase research and development expenditures to work on the X-29A, a demonstration fighter plane for the 1990s. Since this will produce flat 1984 profits, many analysts have removed the stock from their buy list. The strategy behind this move is to obtain some lucrative Air Force contracts. Grumman hopes that the X-29A will be the Air Force's next generation of tactical fighters. The chances of the company getting a contract appear favorable right now. The company is looking better financially than it has for years.

Where's the Beef?
Article Abstract:
Prudential-Bache Securities Inc. sponsored a forum to spotlight the fast-food industry. The purpose of the gathering was to convince Wall Street that the industry has a future. The industry is generally weak right now due to its competitiveness. Restaurant stocks have fallen with the stock market decline. Most of the companies have high multiples. A further shakeout is expected, though some winners are on the horizon.
