Reins on Oil Mergers
Article Abstract:
The surge of mergers in the oil industry involved billions of dollars. Congressional hearings have been held concerning the dollars involved. Anti-merger bills are surfacing in Congress. The major oil companies are actively lobbying against bills that would prevent takeovers. Proponents of the proposed legislation include consumerists, oil distributors, and marketers. Legislators are wary that takeovers will hinder oil exploration.

Who'll Replace the Vanishing Vets?
Article Abstract:
World War II veterans that were hired by companies after the war are reaching retirement age. Within the next five years companies will be experiencing a fundamental management turnover. Companies need to have a management succession plan or they will be without qualified managers. Good managers are hard to find as there is a high burn out rate in the management field.
