An empirical study of the impact of just-in-time task scope versus just-in-time workflow integration on organizational design
Article Abstract:
A study analyzes the role of just-in-time (JIT) technology in an organizational design level. The JIT task scope influences organizational design as well as the JIT workflow integration but organizational design is not influenced by JIT workflow integration. Increase in JIT task scope is associated with an increase in the level of specialization. This implies that managers should provide full-time workers to aspects such as plant facilities design and material handling. Moreover, an increase in JIT task scope also leads to an increase in the decentralization of decision-making.
