Ride the project management wave into Long Beach
Article Abstract:
The 29th Annual Seminars & Symposium of the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California on Oct 11 to 14, 1998. The seminar includes courses on project management trends, innovation and global issues such as the current situation of the project management profession. Guest speakers will include James Taylor, Janet Lapp and Sylvia Earle. The seminar will also feature exhibitor booths containing services, information, new products as well as the PMI bookstore.

The use of 'expert' power as an emerging influence style within successful U.S. matrix organizations
Article Abstract:
The perceptions of project managers regarding the type of influence style most useful in the successful completion of projects ina matrix situation are examined through a survey of project managers and project teams within US matrix organizations. Findings showed that both projectmanagers and project personnel believe that expertise and reputation are the most important sources of influence in technical project management.
