Communication that simply works
Article Abstract:
Human beings find it more satisfying to cooperate with each other and people who use non-violent communication (NVC) often receive greater understanding from others. The model of NVC suggests the user should be kind to themselves as well as other people. Tolerance of others and simplicity in requests and explanations encourages better communication. Although NVC does not mean being passive and helpless. Non-violent communication can be used in all types of organisations. It was first introduced in the US, during the 1960s, by Marshall Rosenberg.

How to be innovative without giving away the bank: the 'affair' of Nick Leeson and Barings
Article Abstract:
Nick Leeson was involved in derivative trading which is not well enough understood for there to be guides on how to do it. Barings was subject to a high level of risk, and Leeson was left to monitor himself, while not carrying risk. There is a need for innovative methods in managing employees involved in innovation in financial services. One method is to employ staff who monitor traders, and another method is to ensure that bonuses stay with the company as a type of security.
