Refugees riot in Malaysian camps
Article Abstract:
Vietnamese refugees, housed in a camp near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, staged a demonstration on Jun 5, 1995, in protest of their forced repatriation to Vietnam. There are still 40,000-45,000 Vietnamese in refugee camps in Southeast Asia, and many are resisting their return to Vietnam.

Asian nations hold trade meeting
Article Abstract:
The Assoc of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) met in Brunei from Jul 27 to Aug 3,1995 and discussed various trade and security issues. The association admitted Vietnam to the group and may expand to ten nations by 2000. ASEAN also plans to implement a free trade zone by 2000.

Nations agree on pact to repatriate Rwandan refugees
Article Abstract:
Former US Pres Jimmy Carter mediated an agreement between five central African nations that will allow refugees to return to Rwanda. No schedule for repatriation was set, but around 10,000 refugees will be returned each day.
