Regional firms shine in rankings for Top 100

Accounting firms outside of Australian capital cities have come into prominence, according to Business Review Weekly's Top 100 Accounting Firms. Cameron Kirk Rose, in New South Wales, had fees of $5.8 million for the year to March 1999 and recently spent $300,000 on a technology upgrade. Michael Boyce and Co. had 1997-98 fees of $5.5 million and its strategy is providing it with an annual growth rate of 15%. Sinclair Wilson promotes a young staff and has a policy of visiting small towns.

Putting clients in pole position

Richard Ashcroft has a unique way of marketing his Australian accounting firm Ashcroft Sullivan to clients and friends, and that is organizing for them a day of go-kart racing. Ashcroft allocates guests to teams of four to each car for the purpose of maximizing business networking. Ashcroft merged his business with Michael Sullivan to form Ashcroft Sullivan, which has increased fees, since the merger, from $400,000 to $600,000.
