Retail struggles to cross the cyber divide
Article Abstract:
The Australian retail industry can no longer ignore the threat that online retailers pose, as online consumers grow, especially in the overseas market. Australian online spending will increase 270% in 1999 to $900 million, though more than half of purchases are made at American online sites. A major concern of traditional retailers is that suppliers will take advantage of the Internet's efficiency and begin to market products directly.

Electronic commerce streamlines the supply chain
Article Abstract:
Electronic commerce is buying and selling products, information and services through the Internet over computer networks. Electronic data interchange, which can be prohibitively priced for smaller firms, can be combined with the Internet to allow digital communication. Business to business and business to consumer are the two methods of electronic commerce. Business to business is expected to expand tremendously in the future.
