Review your salary package; health insurance, superannuation and fringe benefits tax will be among the biggest concerns for executives
Article Abstract:
The Australian government continues to tighten budget and tax laws, both of which will affect highly-paid executives in the areas of health coverage, superannuation, and a fringe benefits tax. The budget now requires health funds to charge premiums based on age. A 15% tax surcharge on contributions makes superannuation a less attractive salary package option. Lucrative controller super tax schemes are not addressed in the current budget. Fringe benefits now must be included on group certificates, which does not allow executives to bypass income-based tax surcharges on super contributions.
