Rio Tinto Chief Executive Leigh Clifford points out his company has been acquiring other firms and is keen to form alliances in order to maximize its operations. He suggests the Australian mining industry will have to work harder to obtain ore. Rio has spent some $5.5 billion on buying North and Comalco.
