Runoff set for Bentsen's senate seat

Texas state Treas Kay Bailey Hutchinson beat Bob Krueger by less than 500 votes in the multi-party primary to fill the US Senate seat of Lloyd M. Bentsen. Because of the close finish, a run-off race between Hutchinson and Krueger will be held in June 1993.

Guatemala: runoff forced in presidential vote

Presidential candidates Alvaro Arzu Irigoyen and Alfonso Portillo Cabrera will face each other in a runoff election to determine the new president of Guatemala. Arzu won 36.55% of the vote in the initial election, while Portillo won 22.11% of the vote.

Fowler loses Georgia Senate runoff

Georgia Sen Wyche Fowler, Jr, on Nov 24, 1992, lost a runoff election against Paul D. Coverdell. Unofficial returns from 99% of the precincts indicated that Fowler won 49% of the vote, compared to 51% for Coverdell.
