Andrew Bassat, Matthew Rockman and Paul Bassat, the trio at Seek Communications, have succeeded against bigger rivals, News and Fairfax, as they have a big backer and enough finance to pursue the next phase of growth. Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL) has taken a 25 percent stake in Seek Communications and James Packer has joint the board.

As a rule, family owned businesses are small businesses with limited financial resources. Consequently, they show limited growth. However, the Duncan Shave, a grandson of the founder of Duncan Shave Human Resources, has adopted novel methods, which helped the recruiting business show substantial growth. The strategies used by Shave are discussed.
