Requiem for Beanie Babies. Or maybe not
Article Abstract:
Ty Inc.'s Web site announcement of the retirement of Beanie Babies by December was met by shock, cynicism and a 50% increase in bids on Beanies at on-line auction sites. Company founder Ty Warner and other Beanie executives were mum on the subject. Some toy analysts believe Ty will introduce new Beanies at the millenium, or introduce an entirely new product line. The announcement was accompanied by the introduction of a new Beanie, a black bear named "The End".
