Silicon Valley's sorceress
Article Abstract:
Katrina Garnett, co-founder of CrossWorlds Inc., has had a tumultuous experience promoting her software company in California's Silicon Valley, including suffering accusations of questionable marketing procedures and claims that her software did not work. She and husband Terence Garnett started CrossWorlds in April 1996 and raised $12.6 million with only one venture capital investor. Garnett's goal was to create software that could translate incompatible programs. After spending more than four times the 1998 revenue of $9 million, the Garnetts finished raising $21 million on March 30, 1999, with thoughts of going public.
