Law Office Office Systems
Article Abstract:
The law firm of Vinson and Elkins (Houston, Texas) automated its offices with the IBM 5520 system for shared word processing, later added Displaywriters for needed stand-alone use, and uses the IBM System-38 for data processing functions. Billing, accounts receivable and payable, and general ledger functions are performed on the System-38 and forty 5251 data entry terminals. The rapidly expanding law firm maintains that its word processing systems help it keep the individuality in the lawyer-client relationship.
