Small and medium-size Australian corporations are trying to anticipate how they will be affected if economic growth stagnates. Cost-cutting strategies are being developed to offset any changes in cashflow. Large companies tend to stretch out their payment schedules from 30 days to 45 or 60. If cashflow declines, banks could deny small businesses overdraft protection. Other companies are trying to expand their export trade to compensate for a loss in domestic sales.
