Successor is selected to run American Express

President and COO at American Express Co. since 1997, Kenneth I. Chenault, has been designated to take the CEO reins from Harvey Golub in 2001. Then the 60-year-old Golub will turn over the chairmanship one year later to the now 47-year-old Chenault. The savvy executive is given much of the credit for revitalizing Amex since James Robinson was replaced as chief executive in 1993.

Chase Manhattan names a new chief executive
Article Abstract:
Chase Manhattan Corp., this country's 3rd largest bank, announced that Wm. B. Harrison Jr. will be handed reins from two executives, those of chief executive from Walter Shipley on June 1st, and also those of president and COO from Thomas Labrecque. Harrison has been with Chase for 32 years and is thought to be able to work with the diverse personalities at the executive level.
