Purkiss Partners harbors big-city ambitions out along the coast

Purkiss Partners, an accounting firm in New South Wales, has an open book-philosophy and an approach to staffing that sets its apart from local competition. Partner David Purkiss' company does $750,000 in business per partner, compared to about $325,000 for competitors. At Purkiss, partners put in about 1200 chargeable hours, while staff is at 1300 and cadets 1462. This is low by Sydney standards, but it reflects the company's focus on training. Purkiss Partners prefers training cadets to hiring recent graduates.
