Structural Sources of Intraorganizational Power
Article Abstract:
Intraorganizational power is analyzed as the joint result of three power sources. These three main sources of power are hierarchical authority, resource control and network centrality. Pairwise interactions reveal the tension, reinforcement and domination of the three sources of power. Three-way interactions are then considered. A comprehensive treatment of the complexity of intraorganizational power is necessary. A review of existing research is provided. Implications and suggestions for future research are noted.
