Tainted information
Article Abstract:
The media, including newspapers, magazines, television and radio programs, deal increasingly with the challenge of separating editorial and business interests. One of the biggest problems is the dissemination of information that is geared to serve an advertiser's interest, but it is represented as factual, accurate information that misleads readers and consumers. Another way the media cater to business interests is to avoid or downplay certain news stories that reflect poorly upon their advertisers.
