Larry Ellison was ridiculed when predicted in 1996 that a billion network computers would be sold by 2000. Although growth was somewhat slower, the network computer is burgeoning. Sun Microsystems plus Microsoft's Windows DNA 2000 may help realize the dream of a PC on every desk. IBM plus Lotus software also gives individuals the type of computer they desire.
